Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I choose ProPT over other Physical Therapy Clinics?

The best part about the American healthcare system is that you have a choice and you can choose which therapy provider that you want.  Your doctor can recommend a clinic or clinician that they have worked with in the past, but ultimately the decision is up to you.  The prescription that the doctor writes for you to attend physical therapy sessions is a legal permission to work with you and your insurance company in providing you the care.   We feel that we are extremely user friendly as far as working with our patients and strive to understand the needs of each individuals patients circumstances, their desires for different levels of care; as far as independence.   We feel that our training and background as individual clinicians is outstanding, and feel confident that we can give you the best possible care that you deserve.

Do you accept my insurance?

We are participating providers with many insurance companies; especially the ones that are most commonly used across the area.  We are participating provider with Medicare, which means that we agree to accept the amount that medicare agrees is appropriate above anything else.  As a medicare patient with a secondary insurance, a vast majority of your expense will be covered by medicare in your secondary and we are not legally allowed to bill you in addition to what medicare allows a part from deductibles and copays that are consistent with your plan.  Our front office is very helpful and will work with you to explain the importance of submitting a timely claim to your insurance company and keeping you up to date on the reconciliation of your statement once your insurance company has applied it.  Most insurance companies now days do have a deductible and copay and the deductibles are something we work with the patients on as far as making payments.  We have no problem, as long as the patient is willing to work with us, we are more than happy to work with them towards making therapy affordable.  In turn making the ultimate goal being rehabilitation, and not worrying about how you are going to pay for therapy.

What if I don't have insurance?

In the case where you do not have insurance, you can feel free to discuss that with a therapist during your initial evaluation.   We have payment plan programs, as well as our willing to negotiate rates based on the amount of skilled services that are necessary and the amount of time you will be spending with your therapist.  We do these on an individual basis, and will discuss that with you; but will do our best to do our best to make the necessary therapy you need affordable.

How long will my visits last?

You can expect that for the first visit that you come to physical therapy when the full evaluation is performed for it to take about an hour.  Depending on the number of procedures and depth of the evaluation that is necessary will of course vary that time.  We usually expect the patient to set aside an hour and fifteen minutes for the first visit.  After this initial visit the therapist will be able to gauge the length of future visits.   The range of therapy sessions could last as little as thirty minutes, and up to two hours in more in depth cases; all based on the level of care and needs of the patient.

What should I expect during physical therapy?

Although it does seem obvious, we do feel that you can expect that your therapist will compassionately evaluate your situational needs in a confidential and caring way.  The therapists at Pro PT are very patient orientated and we hope that you feel at the end of the session, that you have had the chance to explain all the problems that you are concerned about.  At the same time are able to go away with an understanding not just in medical terms, but in real understanding what the problems that you have are, the solutions that the therapist has set out, and the plan of care that will be established between yourself as a patient and your therapist.

Isn't Physical Therapy just for Athletes?

The profession of physical therapy is widespread and covers people from the time they are born until their last days.  Athletic and Sports Medicine therapies are a very small part of our overall therapy program, and at Pro PT we have expertise in both of those areas of therapy; but also a vast amount of knowledge and expertise in Orthopedic care, work related injuries, neurological conditions, geriatric, pediatric, women's health, and everything in between for whatever injury, ailment, or physical disability you may have.
